Trio Manouche with Quentin Collins and Dave Shulman

Simon Harris - guitar/vocals Ducato Pietrowski - guitar Colin Somervell - bass Plus special guests: Quentin Collins - trumpet Dave Shulman - clarinet

Simon Harris formed Trio Manouche out of his passion for Gypsy Jazz music and out of his background in both Classical and Jazz music. He has played with many of the leading exponents of this style which stems from Django Reinhardt and the music he was producing with Stephane Grappelli and Le Hot Club De France in the 1920s and 30s. The infectious foot-tapping grooves and catchy recognisable melodies created are perfect to loosen up and enhance the atmosphere for any event, whilst adding an air of sophistication and freshness. Simon has used his compositional talents to create a handful of his own original pieces within the style adding his own unique flavour to the music.

Building on their successes as a trio, performing the works of Django Reinhardt and their own up-beat original swing compositions in the style of Hot Club de France, Manouche have developed into a full swing jazz ensemble with an extended repertoire that includes many popular swing classics bringing a unique and contemporary take on the genre while still remaining faithful to their gypsy inspired beginnings.

Manouche have played the UKs leading Jazz clubs, concert halls and festivals including 606 Club, Le Quecumbar, Royal Festival Hall, Barbican Hall, Glastonbury, Secret Garden Party and The Mostly Jazz Festival and have worked and performed with some of the top exponents of Gypsy Jazz in the world, including Angelo Debarre, Tchavolo Shmitt and Stochelo Rosenberg.

"very hot and very swing" Max Reinhardt

"Trio Manouche bring another take on the ever evolving music that has stemmed from the gypsy campfires - as the tribes of gypsies spread out around the world they assimilated the music of the lands they passed through added something fresh and made it gypsy - Simon and the guys are continuing this process and producing some fine music along the way!" Dave Alexander – Festival Director - L'Esprit Manouche
