One Nation Under A Groove with Carleen Anderson, Xantone Blacq and Orphy Robinson
Friday, 22nd Nov 2019
Searching through the jazz, soul and funk songbooks and beyond, Carleen Anderson, Xantoné Blacq and Orphy Robinson perform their personal nominations for a unifying world anthem and explore musical legacies of hope, love and a need for positive change that still resonates loud and clear today.
Carleen Anderson (former lead singer with Young Disciples and Brand New Heavies as well as working with Paul Weller, Incognito and Courtney Pine since relocating to the UK in the 1990s) is joined on keys Xantoné Blacq (Amy Winehouse, Laura Mvula and Jason Rebello) and jazz vibes legend Orphy Robinson plus full live band.
With such an intensely rich mix of musical influences on stage their quest for a song to define our times will throw up some interesting and inspirational choices to be re-interpreted by this unique collaborative project exclusively for London Jazz Festival 2019.
