Saxophonist Rico Garofalo leads the way on the launch of his latest album project, ‘Seeds’ (Dome Records), an album of inventively reimagined versions of soul songs he grew up with in the Eighties when listening to radio legends like Robbie Vincent, Greg Edwards, John Leech, Tony Monson and Jeff Young.
Featuring vocals from Izzy Chase, Kayleigh O’Neill, Keni Stevens, Decosta Boyce, Colette Connor, Hannah White, Rhiannon Penney and Heidi Vogel.
“The most pleasant surprise was hearing ‘Kilimanjaro’ which starts off as a slow mid-tempo Latin groove that switches into a funky almost breakbeat piece of wanderlust fusion… Dome have unearthed an unusual nugget that will capture plenty of attention. Nice touch of class” Soul Survivors
“Gwen Guthrie fans will likely appreciate such a refreshing and unexpected cover that is steeped in quality, instrumentation, tasteful vocals and overall musicality” Soultracks.com
“Rico Garofalo has overseen – in a kind of Norman Connors-y way – a very enticing project …with some arresting horn arrangements” Echoes
“a gorgeous, lazy, brassy, rolling version of ‘It Should Have Been You’ with a sweet, sweet vocal” Soulandjazzandfunk.com
