Making her Hideaway debut with her full live band, Matshidiso is a half South African (her name comes from the Sotho tribe, meaning blessing or consolation) half Jamaican musician, born and raised in London.
A classically trained pianist, she is also a composer, arranger and singer-songwriter. Matshidiso's music has influences of early Alice Coltrane and Nina Simone, the storytelling nature of Joni Mitchell, the neo-soul jazz sounds of Robert Glasper all underpinned by the melodic jazz influences of her South African roots and the likes of Abdullah Ibrahim and Hugh Masekela.
