Hideaway Presents BOND - Thursday
It’s just not Christmas without a fix of BOND – expect some classy new jazz arrangements as iconic Bond themes are given a new twist by a stellar line up led by Hideaway's Musical Director Janette Mason with the sublime vocals of David McAlmont and Anna Ross.
Enjoy fresh arrangements of stylish masterpieces such as Diamonds are Forever, Goldfinger and Live and Let Die, shaken (but not stirred) into a cocktail of glitz, glamour and fabulous music. Martini cocktails served from our bar, tuxedos and cocktail dresses optional but preferred.
Line up: David McAlmont (Vocals) Anna Ross (Vocals), Janette Mason (MD / Keys), Simon Little (Bass), Jack Pollitt (Drums), Dave Ital (Guitar), Shanti Jayasinha (Trumpet), Frank Walden (Saxophone), Martin Gladdish (Trombone)
Possibly one of the greatest singers this country has ever produced, having collaborated with everyone from Bond composer David Arnold to Michael Nyman, Paul Weller and most famously with Bernard Butler producing the classic hit single Yes. McAlmont's music is pure emotion, drawing unique, soulful portraits from his own life and philosophies, all beautifully framed by the finest soul.
Singer-songwriter Anna Ross has spent the last decade as Duran Duran’s backing vocalist singing to tens of thousands of people in sold-out arena tours around the world and has featured on their last three albums.
She has also been backing vocalist for many great artists including Lisa Stansfield, Beverley Knight, Stereophonics, Tom Jones, Sting and Tina Turner. 2019 has been a busy year so far as she adds Tom Chaplin and Jamiroquai to the roster of world class artists.
Her delivery is emotionally compelling and she has a soulful integrity that has been engaging audiences around the world since the beginning of her career.
Even without knowing it, there’s a fair chance if you’ll have heard Janette’s special musical touch time and again - on many albums from Ian Shaw to Robert Wyatt, live in concert with Oasis plus her contributions to movie and TV soundtracks.
A talented composer and arranger, she was recently commissioned to write the score for feature film, The Calling, contributed four arrangements to Ian Shaw’s album, Drawn to all Things, and produced and arranged Lea DeLaria’s current Warner Brothers release, The Live Smoke Sessions, which made the Grammy ballot.
As a Jazz musician, she has been a seminal figure on the British Jazz scene for the last fifteen years, sharing the stage with Mornington Lockett, Julian Siegel and many more.
