The Down for the Count Swing Orchestra bring the sounds of the Swing Era back to life, with a stunning and energetic show celebrating the best music of the 20th Century. Described as "a breath of fresh air on the swing scene", they have performed for audiences throughout the UK and abroad with performances at Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club, Twinwood Festival, the London Jazz Festival, the London Swing Festival and Caveau de la Huchette in Paris.
Their new album “Swing That Music” will be released on Sunday 8th September 2019 at Hideaway. The band will perform the whole album live, then you’ll be among the first people to get your hands on a copy before the band head off on their UK tour.
The album celebrates the music of the big bands, bringing the sounds of the Swing Era back to life. It features songs from the Ellington, Basie, Goodman, James and Miller bands plus vocal hits from Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong. But this is no mere nostalgia trip – Down for the Count perform each song in their own unmistakable style, breathing new life into the best vintage music.
Combine that with the band’s top class instrumental solos, sublime vocal performances, and irresistible humour and joie de vivre, and you get a show and an album that will leave you feeling uplifted and wanting more. Join us for “one helluva celebration of vintage music” (TimeOut London)!
