Wall to Wall Stevie Wonder (Saturday)

The best live soul, funk, Latin and jazz at Hideaway jazz club in SW16
Saturday, 15th Sep 2018

Join us at Hideaway for a three night residency of pure Stevie Wonder bliss as we celebrate the man and the music, with special guest vocalists Lex Cameron and Izzy Chase, an all star band plus Hideaway's Musical Director Janette Mason.

Hideaway celebrates one of the greatest names in soul history – from the emergence of ‘Little Stevie’ through to the reign of the ‘Master Blaster’ himself!

Diving into one of the most celebrated songbooks of any solo artist, Wall to Wall: Stevie Wonder teams Hideaway resident MD and keys maestro Janette Mason with the stunning soulful vocal talents of Lex Cameron (aka Lennox, ‘Don’t Go’/’Free’) and Izzy Chase.

Lex Cameron

Lex Cameron may on the surface be unfamiliar to all but the more astute music aficionados. Most would probably remember him from recordings he made in the early 90s under his previous moniker “Lennox”, most notably the double-A side “Don’t Go”/”Free”; two slices of sensual and conscious UK Soul respectively.

In recent times Lex can be found in the guise of Musical Director, vocalist/composer and keyboard player for none other than Mr Omar Lye-Fook on the tour circuit, as well as preparing subtly in the background for his own solo comeback.

Izzy Chase

Izzy Chase's soulful voice and versatility has earned her appearances throughout London and Europe in renowned venues such as Ronnie Scott’s, The Roundhouse, Hammersmith Apollo and the The London Palladium. She has spent the last few years touring and arranging as a backing vocalist for a range of artists including Rod Stewart, Ellie Goulding, Trevor Horn, Beverly Knight, Kym Mazelle, Kim Wilde, Joyce Sims, Alfie Boe and Michael Ball. You may also have seen Izzy on TV shows such as Top of the Tops, Graham Norton, Michael McIntyre and the X-Factor as well hearing her on Radio 1,2 and 3.

Izzy has just finished a 12 week tour as a featured vocalist for Ian Waite and Oti Mabuse from Strictly Come Dancing.

Janette Mason - Musical Director & Piano

Even if you’ve never been to this exceptional pianist’s gigs, you’ll have heard her special touch time and again - on many albums from Ian Shaw to Robert Wyatt, live in concert with Oasis and Jimmy Somerville as well as her numerous contributions for television and soundtracks for the movies.

Janette Mason is a talented composer and arranger. She was recently commissioned to write the score for feature film, The Calling, starring Susannah York and Brenda Blethyn, contributed four arrangements to Ian Shaw’s album, Drawn to all Things, and produced and arranged Lea DeLaria’s current Warner Brothers release, The Live Smoke Sessions, which made the Grammy ballot.

As a Jazz musician, she has been a seminal figure on the British Jazz scene for the last fifteen years, sharing the stage with Mornington Lockett, Julian Siegel and many more.

Line up: Lex Cameron (Vocals), Izzy Chase (Vocals), Janette Mason (MD/Keys), Yolando Charles (Bass), Dave Ital (Guitar), Chirs Morris (Drums), Shanti Jayasinah (Trumpet), Alam Nathoo (Saxophone)
