Wall to Wall Prince (Thursday)

Thursday, 1st Sep 2016

A celebration of the music of his Purple Highness – with a back catalogue more rich and varied than perhaps any other recording artist, Prince is one of the most influential artists of his generation. David McAlmont & Baby Sol star on vocals as Hideaway parties “like it’s 1999”!

Baby Sol

Baby Sol has sung backing vocals for the likes of Alexander O’Neal, Amy Winehouse and Joss Stone as well as a host of other UK and US artists alongside Zalon Thompson and Tawiah. She also began doing backing vocals with the Barefoot Project (Sam Obernik and Tommy D) and lead vocals for the Jazz Jamaica Motorcity Roots Tour (Dune Music) alongside the likes of Soweto Kinch, Abram Wilson and Gary Crosby. 2011 saw Baby release her debut EP ‘Before I Begin (The Journey) along side 3 singles and official videos; ‘Always’, ‘No No’ and ‘She Cries’ which was released in support of Amnesty International. Baby also made her debut performance at Glastonbury in 2011 which gigs at the Dance Villages Pussy Parlure as well as Shangri La. Her collaboration with Redlight ‘Lost In Your Love’ charted at number 5 on the official UK singles Chart.

David McAlmont

Possibly one of the greatest singers this country has ever produced, David McAlmont has collaborated with everyone from Bond composer David Arnold to Michael Nyman, Paul Weller and most famously with Bernard Butler producing the classic hit single Yes. David's music is pure emotion, drawing unique, soulful portraits from his own life and philosophies, all beautifully framed by the finest soul and now he's interpreting the music of Prince in an evocative show you'll love!

Janette Mason - Musical Director & Piano

Janette Mason is by now a familiar face at Hideaway. She took on the role of resident Musical Director in 2012 and has been producing an eclectic array of shows from Bond to Bowie and Beyond. Her skills as a composer and arranger can be heard on her 2010 Trio CD ‘Alien Left Hand’ which was nominated for a Parliamentary Jazz Award and on the soundtrack to ‘Ruby Blue’ an award winning independent film starring Bob Hoskins. As a keyboard player she has worked with Oasis, Seal,Pulp and Robert Wyatt as well as the cream of the UK’s jazz performers including Clare Martin, Ian Shaw, and Clare Teal.
