True heavyweights in the Hammond Funk genre, The GetUp have won a reputation for their irresistible grooves, infectious melodies and energetic performances that have been shaking dance floors since 2004.
“The GetUp are like ‘Double Mod’ - a true British funk sound” Craig Charles, Funk and Soul Show, BBC 6 Music
“The GetUp ‘Straight From the Hob’ is a break–laden banger and must not be missed” Snowboy, Percussionist & DJ
The GetUp’s unique sound can be attributed not only to their influences Booker T, Charles Earland, Eddie Russ and many of those rare Funk 45’s from the 60s and 70s but also to the list of groups its members have worked with. These include James Taylor Quartet, The Brand New Heavies (Linda Muriel), Beverley Knight, The Mocambos, Sir Joe Quarterman, Funkshone, Gizelle Smith, Ruben Wilson, Rhoda Dakar, Paolo Negri and Gene Drayton Unit. Add to this, the band’s dedication to an authentic, raw funk sound, favouring a REAL Hammond Organ, analogue recording equipment and hard horn arrangements, The Getup have found a sound that’ll have you screaming for more.
