Showtime Presents Dusty and Shirley (Saturday)

Saturday, 4th Jun 2016

An evening celebrating the iconic British Pop sound of Shirley Bassey and Dusty Springfield, brought to life by star vocalists Gwyneth Herbert and David McAlmont and a stellar band led by our Musical Director Janette Mason. Come and enjoy a special night at Hideaway!

Singer David McAlmont.

David McAlmont

Possibly one of the greatest singers this country has ever produced, David McAlmont has collaborated with everyone from Bond composer David Arnold to Michael Nyman, Paul Weller and most famously with Bernard Butler producing the classic hit single Yes. McAlmont's music is pure emotion, drawing unique, soulful portraits from his own life and philosophies, all beautifully framed by the finest soul.

Gwyneth Herbert

Gwyneth Herbert is a strikingly original performer, award-winning composer and lyricist and versatile musical adventurer who continues to redefine and challenge expectations. With one foot in the jazz world and the other somewhere in the future, she has released 6 albums to date on both major and independent labels, including the first Blue Note UK release for 30 years.

Janette Mason - Musical Director & PianoJanette Mason playing live at Hideaway.

If there's an explosion of curly red hair buzzing around at the business end of our beautiful Yamaha grand piano, and a room bursting with musically induced grins, then you can be sure it's Janette Mason at the ivories.

Appointed as Hideaway's first Musical Director in 2012, Janette's talents as a producer, arranger and band leader have left a distinctive and extremely popular mark on Hideaway's in-house productions, a series of sell-out shows that include Showtime Presents Bond and Wall to Wall: Bowie.

Also a talented composer, her Trio's 2010 CD, Alien Left Hand, was nominated for a Parliamentary Jazz Award and her work also features on the soundtrack of award-winning independent film Ruby Blue, starring Bob Hoskins.

Her credits as an elite keyboard player include Oasis, Seal, Pulp and Robert Wyatt, as well as the cream of the UK's jazz talent including Clare Martin and Ian Shaw.
