Judi Jackon singing soulful jazz with full band at Hideaway Jazz Club Streatham South London

Stunning nu-soul from this American singer-songwriter who has already recorded with the Grammy nominated Snarky Puppy, opened for the legendary Mavis Staples and performed live sessions for JazzFM – just a few of the notable stepping stones in the rapid rise of this amazing vocal talent.

Judi Jackson is a multi-talented actor and jazz vocalist from Virginia who, aged 14, was fortunate enough to meet Wynton Marsalis at the Jefferson Center performance hall after a show. He sent her a box of music the following Christmas that became the seed of inspiration for her development as a jazz vocalist. She began listening to and studying the sounds of Blossom Dearie, Billie Holliday, Sarah Vaughan, Miles Davis, Ella Fitzgerald, and Mahalia Jackson, amongst many other greats. She continued studying over the next several years and started gaining more experience as a performer by opening for acts such as Mavis Staples. Shortly thereafter she released her first album, “Crashing down” with Judi and the Giants, on the Music Lab's label. Judi has shared the stage with Snarky Puppy, and recorded her original piece, “Only Love”, with the Grammy award winning group.
