Friday, 3rd Feb 2017

One of the greatest soul and R&B voices of all time, Jocelyn Brown, returns to Hideaway for these two intimate shows that take us on a journey through the music that influenced her life.  Sharing her love of jazz and gospel, as well as her own anthemic songs, Jocelyn gives us a personal insight into what inspired her to be the artist that we know and love as well as serving up a party and a whole heap of good times as only she can.

Ticket Update Tuesday 17th January: ALL OUR SEATED TICKETS ARE SOLD OUT. We have now released a limited amount of Bar Standing Room Only Tickets. Holders of these tickets will only be allowed entry into the club strictly after 8.45pm.

Jocelyn's mother and grandmother both sang and it was that family background that introduced her to singing in church and various gospel choirs.  It was another family member, this time her aunt Barbara Roy who sang with the vocal group EPP, that inspired her to "sing seriously".

From cutting studio sessions with some of the finest disco and dance bands of the 70s (including Chic, Kleer, Inner Life, Cerrone and the Salsoul Orchestra) she went on to release her solo debut album "One From The Heart" on Warners in 1984, which featured the hits "Loves Gonna Get You" and the club classic "Somebody Else's Guy".

Jocelyn's distinctive and powerful vocals have been in demand ever since, seeing collaborations with Incognito ("Always There") and Nuyorician Soul ("Black Gold of the Sun"), as well as Masters at Work, Quincy Jones, Luther Vandross, George Benson, Michael Jackson, Roberta Flack, Janis Joplin, Patrick Adams, Leroy Burgess, Cerrone, Change, Herbie Mann, Milton Wright and more.
